LE PORO PRIVÉ DES SENOUFO DE CÔTE D’IVOIRE ET SON IMPORTANCE : CAS DU WAW DES NAFANRA ET DU NONCARA DES FODONNON
Résumé : La culture sénoufo est fortement marquée par les institutions initiatiques. Ces pratiques se présentent sous deux formes, à savoir la forme communautaire et la forme privée. Chacune de ces déclinaisons est appelée Poro. Polysémique, le Poro renvoie à tout savoir acquis à travers l’initiation chez les Sénoufo. L’initiation communautaire, plus connue sous l’appellation Tchologo, se retrouve chez presque tous les sous-groupes sénoufo de Côte d’Ivoire. Quant au poro privé, il regroupe plusieurs pratiques initiatiques qui sont souvent l’affaire d’un seul sous-groupe, d’un clan, d’une famille ou d’un individu. Le poro sénoufo, qu’il soit communautaire ou privé, constitue un régulateur social. La dimension initiatique privée occupe une place prépondérante dans la vie des initiés. En plus d’être une école qui éduque et qui forme le candidat à l’initiation, il joue, pour certains, le rôle de protecteur, à l’instar du Waw et pour d’autres, une véritable médecine traditionnelle comme le Noncara. Cette étude vise à analyser le rôle du poro privé sous le prisme du Waw et du Noncara dans la société sénoufo.
Abstract : Senufo culture is strongly marked by initiation institutions. These practices take two forms: the communal form and the private form. Each of these variations is called Poro. Polysemous, Poro refers to all knowledge acquired through initiation among the Senufo. The communal initiation, better known as Tchologo, is found in almost all Senufo subgroups of Ivory Coast. As for private Poro, it encompasses several initiatory practices that are often the domain of a single subgroup, clan, family, or individual. The Senufo poro, whether communal or private, constitutes a social regulator. The private initiatory dimension occupies a prominent place in the lives of initiates. In addition to being a school that educates and trains the candidate for initiation, it plays the role of protector for some, like the Waw, and a true traditional medicine for others, like the Noncara. This study aims to analyze the role of the private poro through the lens of the Waw and the Noncara in Senufo society.
